At times I look back on my life,
And wonder why God would let me hurt,
Bringing times that brought such strife,
But closer to Him I see it's worth.
I always adored and showed compassion,
Wiped her tears and held her tight,
Loved her in every form and fashion,
That perfect love she didn't hold tight.
Tossed away love she'd never known,
Pushed away her lover one strong man,
Because far apart they'd quickly grown,
She did not like God's perfect plan.
Now at night she lays her head,
She cannot feel the spark of love,
She lays alone in her cold bed,
Because she doesn't look above.
Now at night when I lay my head,
I lift my heart up to my God,
I feel strong Bible by my bed,
He is my comfort strength and rod.
Pain at first but now I'm healed,
Tears at first but now a smile,
A happy life has been revealed,
With God right here every mile!
