Our past only makes us who we are,
All the bad times give us strength,
The good times brought us very far,
Down our life's road of any length.
We've lived in doubt and had our fears,
We've loved been loved had our hearts broken,
No matter what's happened through the years,
Only good we've done will ever be spoken.
We live our lives by the Golden Rule,
And karma brings good in return,
But sometimes people are only cruel,
And their hatred for life does still burn.
It's at these times we brush them off,
Put on a smile and help a friend,
Tune out our ears to every scoff,
And our hearts love will quickly mend.
Just one smile can light a room,
It is contagious and will spread,
It takes away the sadness and gloom,
And only positive words are said.
Memories we make we'll never forget,
So let's open our hearts and freely give,
And every cent I'd gladly bet,
That the happy life we will live.
